Hiding from the past (Fabien)

Delta walked through the forest her boots occasionally snapping the odd twig, even though it was daylight it was always dark in the forest. She was following the path to Salem village, however as she reached the old oak tree she paused and gazed down an overgrown pathway.

The path lead to the old cottage were she used to live, and as she gazed down the overgrown path she felt the urge to follow it, pulling out her wand she blasted her way through swearing violently as her sleeve ripped on a bramble.

She stopped as her eyes fell upon the old cottage and memories flooded back to her, she shook her head her curls swinging as she turned on her heel and walked away. It was a mistake to come her she thought angrily find the path which lead to salem village and marching back down it her cross necklace swinging across her chest as she made her way their.

It was true she wasn’t supposed to be going to the village she had promised the founders she wouldn’t cause anymore trouble but she was bored and needed some entertainment and what better way to find entertainment than to amuse herself with muggles. Most were weary of her, she had made quite a name for herself in the village and her poster was up all around the village ‘wanted’ as a witch.

A man in a black suit,he looked like any other man,except this one walked with an importance in every step he took. Almost like he was following a dance in his head. He smiled at the people who stared at him, just another man who came to visit a small town like Salem.

He stopped in front of a paper, it was a sketch of a woman with long curls,"Those eyes," he whispered to himself. He reached out and ran a finger over the sketch. It had to be her,just older but the same. The man face turned into a sneer,he gave a thought to his past in this town,he had to breathe to keep himself from angering himself. He wasn't here for that,at least not now,no he had to find her first.

The man walked with a fake smile on his face,he didn't and couldn't attract attention to himself. He pushed the small brown locks of hair away from his face and kept walking. He had the urge to walk to the forest,but he didn't know if he was strong enough to handle it.

Fabien decided now or never, his long steps took him directly to the edge of the forest,he stopped in his tracks. The woman from the sketch,he quickly stalked her way and grabbed her by the arm to turn her to wards him "You shouldn't be here," he hissed, it was a warning. Fabien after all these years still feared for his sister.

Delta had just exited from the forest and found herself in the village; it was quite busy today, which was expected for Sunday lunchtime. Delta’s eyes fell on a poorly sketched picture of herself, she smirked turned on her heel and headed towards the tavern.

It was at that moment she felt a firm grip on her arm pulling her back, she turned around sending dagger glares at the man who’d grabbed her “Give me one reason why I shouldn’t?” she retorted pulling her arm away from him and surveying him carefully. Who was he? A muggle? No…she knew that much, but the more she looked at him the more she recognised him.

He had the same strong features of her father and she recognised something in the way he looked at her, “Fabien…” the name uttered from her lips before she had realised what she was thinking. He couldn’t be back…could he? No she was being silly now, she had long ago accepted that he would never return but seeing this man stood in front of her made her doubt…

Fabien loosened his hold on her and let her go completely, he sighed,the shock in her eyes made him feel uneasy. "Yes Delta,its me," he said calmly,his deep voice made the simplest words sound comforting. He had gone over this in his head for months on how and what he would say. What had gone with him but having her here,he just couldn't think of anything.

"So how are you?" he asked,apparently his throat had gone rather dry and his words came out a little too rough. If he had to start a conversation he figured manners were in order. There was a bench near them, he motioned for her to sit, he figured this family reunion would last more than a hello and goodbye.

Fabien couldn't imagine what she would say when he confessed all the things he has done,Maybe I'll omit somethings from my past he though to himself. The fancy muggle clothes was bothering him now, he felt silly wearing them, since he was so use to his wizard robes,but blending in was necessary. He pushed at his hair,the sun was making his cheeks pink and he looked bothered.

He wouldn't sit until she did,there were a lot of things he learned while he was away,he wished to tell her of his discoveries and adventures.The fresh smell of the woods caressed him and it brought back some happy memories but again they were clouded with the bad ones. The sinister smile tugged at his lips,he chuckled at the though of revenge on those who did him and his family wrong.

The world around Delta seemed to sway for a second as she tried to take in all the new information, however Delta wasn’t going to faint on him. Pulling herself together she let him steer her to the bench and she sat down looking at him with curiosity and confusion in her eyes.

“I’ve been fine” she said pausing “Im a bit thrown though…I thought you’d left me for good…and now your back” she said all of this with a stunned voice, of all the people she’d expect to see her brother certainly wasn’t one of them.

He looked very well dressed up in those fancy muggle clothes Delta couldn’t help but be impressed it seemed he’d certainly done well. Delta suddenly felt very small against him. Fabien was probably the only person that could control her and not because her was stronger than her but because she had always looked up to him and idolized him.

“Where have you been Fabien?” she asked “I mean its been a long time and suddenly you appear…”
