Delta paced up and down the large library she’d spent months travelling all over collecting as many magical books that she could find. And lets just say this it was rather difficult as most books had been banned, she’d already been labelled as a witch…again and her picture was all over Salem.
Delta’s boots tapped rhythmically on the wooden floor the founders had found many a way to contact other magical people and the students would be arriving over the next couple of weeks. She reached up to place a book from on of the tables in the ‘Magical Plants’ section, she much preferred to be alone than with the other founders and teachers, she guessed it was because she had lived alone for so long shunned by the ‘normal people’ and unaware of other magical people.
She found it difficult to stay out of trouble and she could sense the other founders were becoming increasingly impatient with her. Delta sighed it wasn’t her fault…okay it was she loved to stir trouble in the village and it was amusing watching the people cower with fear as she approached.

Thomas was restless. As the headmaster, he was spending a great deal of time getting the school ready for opening for the new term and he felt that weight of that, as well as many other burdens on him on a daily basis. When he and the other three founders had founded this school ten years ago, they had done so that others with the magical talent had a place to come where they could not only learn more about their gift, but to have a sanctuary from those that were bent on destroying them.
Thomas was the quite type, though he did enjoy the company of friends on occasion. It came as bit of a shock to him when the other three founders suggested that he, among them, lead the school. He had hesitantly agreed, and had appointed Delta as his strong deputy. He figured that she, with her strong will, would balance the pair out nicely.
Speaking of Delta, he caught a glimpse of her as he passed by the library. With a smile on his face, he walked in.
"Plotting again Delta? The term has not even started yet and already I have to look out for you?"

Delta looked up as Thomas entered the room, she had known him for a long time and he was the one that was always there making sure she didn’t end up at the stake.
She thingyed her head to the right as she surveyed him her long brown locks falling over her face as her upper lip curled into a crude smile “Well you know me Wainwright” she said crudely “I’m always plotting” out of all of the founders Thomas knew of her desire for revenge and her past, she hadn’t confided in him oh no Delta would never do that but Thomas had found out and Delta hadn’t bothered to inquire how.
Delta raised her right eyebrow “I don’t need you to look out for me Wainwright” she said “you of all people should know that’s not what I want” she said dryly watching him closely.

Thomas walked casually into the library with his hands behind his back. He did not have a problem with Delta like everyone else seemed to. He did not fully trust her, that much was true, but trust and liking were two different things as far as he was concerned.
"No you know I make it my personal mission to keep an eye on my staff Delta, what kind of headmaster would I be if I didn't? Besides, lets just say that I have taken a special interest in you and your activities. But let me ask you this..what exactly is it that you DO want?"

Delta smiled coyly and pushed herself up onto one of the wooden tables “All of your staff?” she asked giving Thomas a knowing look but not pursuing it any further. “You really want to know what I want?” Delta paused surveying him further, she crossed her arms and pondered it for a moment, “I would like to be left alone, I’m a big girl Thomas, I can look after myself” she said.
Delta ran her hands through her hair “While we are questioning the staff” she said “why don’t you tell me why you find it your business to follow my every move?” she asked, Delta didn’t dislike Thomas but her opinion of him hadn’t fully formed, he seemed to surprise her often.

"Oh I don't go around questioning every member of my staff, just you Delta, and I think you have a pretty good idea why. And yes, I really do want to know what you want. I want to be sure that you are...getting everything you want and need. Call it concern.
I have no doubt that you can take care of yourself Delta, that does not worry me, what does concern me is your past and your tendency to find trouble. I worry about your safety is all. Call it whatever you want, but its the truth. You are my deputy after all, and we will be working closely together, whether you like it or not.'

To Delta it was strange that someone should worry about her safety, no one had ever seemed to care. She smirked and stood up walking towards him “My past” she said icily “is non of your business nor is my present or future” she raised an eyebrow at him and stepped closer.
“Closely” she emphasised every syllable in that word, “How closely?” she asked her brown eyes sparkling with mischief, “how come I get special treatment?” If he didn’t go questioning every member of staff how come she was the one that was questioned so closely.

Thomas inched his face close to hers. So close that their noses almost touched. Everything in this school is my concern my dear, especially you. Lets just say that I have taken a special interest in you and leave it at that. I assure you, that I will be watching you VERY, VERY closely. And it will be my extreme pleasure to do so."
Thomas wanted to make sure that she knew for certain that he was her superior, but at the same time, he did not want her to know that he felt a connection between them at that moment that he did not know, but it scared the hell out of him.

Delta brushed her lips softly past his in an almost teasing manor before she leant forward and whispered in his ear “I’d be very careful if I were you Thomas…look to closely and you might see something you’d rather you didn’t” she said running her hand up his right arm caressingly.
Delta smiled her dark brown eyes fixing upon Thomas’s, this school meant so much to him were as for Delta it was a hobby something for her to play with to pass the time until something better came along. “I promise though you will never be bored with me around” she said with a wink.

The way she acted around him and the tone in her voice pissed Thomas off while at the same time turned him on in a way that was not entirely unpleasant. Suddenly furious, he grabbed both sides of her head.
"I will look all I please, and I will have you know DELTA, that there is nothing on this world that scares me, and that includes you. And as for me being bored with you around...why the hell do you think I keep you around? You entertain me. It sure as hell isn't for your magical ability."

Delta pulled back from Thomas’s tight grip her eyes flashing dangerously, how dare he speak to her in that way? She never let anyone speak to her like that especially not Wainwright. “Don’t touch me” she spat at him “How dare you speak to me like that” Delta stood for a minute glaring at him trying to calm herself down. She folded her arms and pursed her lips “I wouldn’t talk to me like that again Wainwright” she said with a sneer running her tongue along her teeth “you may be headmaster of this school but I can run circles around you when it comes to duelling” she paused stepping closer her eyes narrowed and her teeth gritted “you don’t intimidate me” she said in a threatening tone.
Delta wasn’t used to being disrespected by people and those who did usually found themselves…in a rather unwanted predicament. The one thing that angered her the most was the words ‘you entertain me’ he was treating her as if she were an object…a toy. Well Delta wasn’t going to have any of that!

Thomas just smiled. At least she did not slap him. That had to be something. Still, he couldn't just let her get away with that kind of behavior. Suddenly, without warning, he turned and before she had a chance to do anything about it, kissed her full on the mouth. After a few seconds, he let go and looked her straight in the eye.
"I am used to getting my own way Delta. Its best you get used to that idea right now."

Delta would easily admit her surprise when she felt Thomas’s hands pull her towards him and his lips upon hers, it was something she had least expected but she liked unpredictable.
She raised an eyebrow at him suggestively but not forgetting she was still angry with him said “Well I’m used to getting my way and I refuse to be treated like some animal” she said “You wont be able to tame me Wainwright so don’t try” she said “greater people have tried and failed” she added with a wink she much preferred to be the one in charge and didn’t like it when someone tried to deny her that.
It was strange though if a man normally treated her this way she’d crush them and leave but there was a strange force stopping her from doing this with Thomas. She couldn’t help but feel attracted to him; she fumed over why this was as she looked up into his blue eyes.
